It's About Time for a "Good Girl Movement"

This morning as I cleaned up a spill, my mind fell upon a certain reality TV star whose "exterior" would belie the venom-spewing, profanity-laced little tyrant she has emerged into being.  It's the transformation of "bad-b----ism-turned-top-entertainment" . . . and frankly speaking, sad.  I remember when conversations used to be about how to deal with the "n----r" word, when or if the word was ever acceptable to use in certain company, when not.

I watched in dismay and disappointment, just last night, as professional, well-educated women of color casually referred to each others by that once-notorious (?) "B-word" in derogatory terms, and frighteningly, even in terms of endearment.
As I thought about that "reality star," I thought, what would her grandmother think of her words and behavior?  Would she be shocked?  Or, if I'd ever known her, would I see where this star gets the propensity to as easily trash a fellow human being as she breathed her next breath . . . Hhhmmm . . .
Here's where I'm going with this:  In all the cacophony of this bad-girlness-exalted-to-supremeness, those who abhor that are still poking their little heads up:  One young Hampton University grad, Brooklyne Baker, has launched a blog called "The Good Girl Movement."  She is a dancer and model and was recently crowned Miss USofA, according to her blog bio.  Brooklyne is the daughter of Letricia Loftin of the Sisterly Grace Praise dance wear.
Here's what her website says:  "Dear Good Girls: In a world where everyone is focused on being bad, our team is especially concerned with being genuinely, incredibly, and unapologetically good.  . . . We aren’t a tracking system, and certainly do not want to embrace and perpetuate the notion that women are either queens or hoes."
