If you watched the 2016 MTV Music Awards on Sunday night (28 August 2016), you probably saw Britney Spears' shadow dance, with the large hands appearing to interact with her during her performance
At one point, the MTV camera seemed to show a glimpse of what was happening behind the screen . . . Yes, I found myself craning my neck to see more, as if I thought I could . . .
That performance reminded me of the shadow-dance praise dance that my dance ministry did a little more than two years ago, a challenge given to us by our Music/Worship Arts director: Boy, did we learn a lot! . . . Like how to make "characters" appear smaller, or small, or larger, or large. Our "screen" were the three or four white, table cloths we borrowed by the church's culinary arts/kitchen ministry, fastened with a safety pin on the seams. During practices, we used a lamp from my living room to cast the light, but used a light borrowed from the church's video ministry during the day of ministry. The challenge was to use the human body instead of props, as much as you could, and we were stretched, using five adults and a child for the characters and "human props."
Wow ~ again, we learned a lot! Curious about presenting a dance ministry in a shadow-dance format? Click here to see what we learned!!
~ Hey, what are you or your ministry doing for Liturgical Dance Day 2016? ~
~ Could you present an 'entire worship service' using praise dance? ~
